Town 3-0 Spurs Sat 30th Dec 2000 15:13 Devastating Town took a woeful Spurs side apart at Portman Road 3-0, but it could have been even more. Town took the lead through a Marcus Stewart goal in the 8th minute. Second half goals from Alun Armstrong and substitute Jamie Clapham sealed the result. But for a number of excellent saves from Neil Sullivan, the crossbar preventing James Scowcroft and a disallowed goal from Titus Bramble Town might have won by even more. |
Wright Wrist Break Wed 29th Nov 2000 10:31 Richard Wright will miss Saturday's game at Derby after it was revealed he had a small fracture in his left wrist. The Town keeper, missing for the first time in years last night, will have a cast on his wrist until next week when he will have an x-ray. He is expected to be fit for the away game at Liverpool on December 10th. |
Coventry 0-1 Town Tue 21st Nov 2000 01:17 Town scored a dramatic winner in injury time at Highfield Road to return to fifth in the table. Just about everyone had decided that a draw was probably on the face of it, a fair result when Fabian Wilnis popped up on the end of a Martijn Reuser cross to head past Kirkland in the Coventry goal. |
Town on Match of the Day Fri 10th Nov 2000 10:57 TWTD has learned this morning that Town's game with Charlton is one of the main games to be featured on tomorrow night's Match of the Day. So far the MOTD pundits have enjoyed watching Town with Alan Hansen describing us as "really good" after our draw with Arsenal. |
Scowy Only Worry Fri 03rd Nov 2000 11:06 Town's only worry for tomorrow's game at Newcastle United is James Scowcroft. The Town striker or midfielder has a thigh problem, but will have a test in the morning and is likely to be OK. |
Verheyen Decision Imminent Tue 03rd Oct 2000 10:31 Papers in Belgium today claim that Club Brugge will make a decision on whether to let Gert Verheyen join Town this evening. Verheyen himself is keen to join the Blues, but the club consider him an important member of their squad (he's the captain and top scorer) and don't want to let him go, especially given that they have already sold two high profile players already this season. However, the matter is being put to the whole board who are meeting this evening. Verheyen is currently training with the Belgian national side. |
Spurs 3 - 1 Ipswich Sat 19th Aug 2000 18:02 Town fell to defeat in their first game back in the Premiership, although it was not all bad news for George Burley’s men. The Blues lined up with new signing Hermann Hreidarsson lining up in the middle of a back three with Titus Bramble to his right and Mark Venus to his left. Up front David Johnson partnered Marcus Stewart who started despite the rumours yesterday, with James Scowcroft, Jim Magilton and Matt Holland in midfield. The wing backs were Gary Croft and Jamie Clapham. |
De Vos Link Sat 12th Aug 2000 19:41 Town are being linked to Canadian international defender Jason De Vos. The 26-year-old is currently at Dundee United and would probably cost Town around £1.5 million mark. The defender is 6'4" tall and cost Dundee United £400,000 when he joined them two years ago. Town Chief Scout Colin Suggett is believed to rate De Vos very highly and has apparently been watching him since his spell with Darlington prior to his move to Scotland. |
American Beauty Tue 08th Aug 2000 10:46 Town are this morning being linked with 27-year-old USA international Gregg Berghalter. |
Abidallah Stars Again as Reserves Lose Wed 02nd Aug 2000 11:02 Town's reserves lost 1-0 at Hitchin last night after Delroy McKoy scored the winner in the 66th minute. Few Town players impressed on the night, although Nabil Abidallah once again showed that he is a cut above the majority of Town's squad players. One worry for Town was the injury of Neil Midgley who left the field with a groin strain. Also replaced was Mark Venus who was taken off in the 35th minute with a sore back. Town side: Salmon, Daly, Nicholls, McGreal, Mowbray, Venus (Moffat 35), Abidallah, Niven, Logan (Wasylyczin 82), Midgley (J Miller 44) and Friars (Dickinson 80) |
